The Victorian lean-to conservatory takes the Mediterranean concept a stage further. As well as simple rectangular plan shapes you now have the option to wrap around the outside of your home or indeed infill any redundant space. With its steeper pitch, the Victorian lean-to can accommodate polycarbonate or glass units to the roof.

There are two further variants on the Victorian theme. Both have a square or rectangular plan shape and therefore offer the maximum space.
The conservatories of today are a far cry from the original glass houses, which were built primarily to protect exotic plant life from the ravages of winter. A new conservatory, with high insulation throughout, is a place as likely to be used in mid-winter as in the height of summer.
